about

"Pushing Back" is a song about social media and its propensity to create divisions. As one participates online, they soon realize that their personal views are meaningless, "wrong", or become drowned in a sea of screaming idiots. The song states that the only way to escape this is to "throw away your phone" and separate entirely. The New Pollution realizes that they likely cannot practice what they preach and therefore are somewhat hypocritical, yet they are hopeful for the future. The song combines psychedelic acid house synths, 60s style guitar, and an 808 drum machine to create a dance song that is rhythmic yet punk. Radio must remain free.
